We Did Not Arrest EFCC Boss, Magu, says DSS

* Magu summoned by Investigation Panel 

The Department for State Security (DSS) Monday denied reports that it ochestrated the arrest of the   acting Chairman of Economic Financial and Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

The agency's Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, in a press release states: “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media.

“The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”

Sources close to the Commission says Magu has summoned before a panel probing the activities of the agency.

The panel is said to be sitting at the Banquet Hall wing of the Presidential Villa

Magu is being grilled by the  probe panel over allegation diversion of looted funds and assets.

However the DSS  has barred journalists from gaining access to Conference Centre of the State House where Magu was being questioned

Men of the DSSn stationed within the premises of the Conference Centre asked  journalists to leave the premises.
